In 2007, I found myself in southwest Michigan with a middle-aged mother in her garden. Specifically, the walkway to her front door. It was lined with beautiful, round lavender plants. Her children ran and played outside in the fresh green grass at their pristine lake house while we tended to the lavender.. plucking stems here and there eventually taking them inside and wrapping them with twine. There was something so peaceful and happy about those moments that it burned into my memory. For years, I have dreamt of having a lavender-lined walkway to my front door. After some trial and error, and some transplanting, my lavender is finally thriving. I have had two harvests this year and experimented with wreaths, bath soaks, and different items I can make with pressed lavender. I am at such peace in my lavender garden. I enjoy watching the large bumblebees stopping by for a drink of sweet lavender nectar. I love carefully trimming each stem ensuring that a new one can grow in its place. I find such joy creating something new from something that I grew in my garden. I hope that what I create here can spark joy and peace in you, too. 💜
